Under the patronage of HE Mr. Tammam Salam , The Prime Minister of Lebanon, The sixth Arab- Chinese Business Conference & The 4th Investment Forum were convened in Beirut – Lebanon during 26-27 May 2015 . The conference was co- organized by FAB, Arab League, The Union of Arab Chambers and CCPIT. In the opening session HE Prime Minister Tammam Salam praised the Arab – Chinese cooperation in all fields and reviewed the Chinese Lebanese economic relations .HE Mr. Hamdi Tabba’a ,FAB Chairman, reviewed the Arab Chinese economic relations and the latest development in the trade exchanges and investment projects, he said that China intends to invest around $500 bill . within the coming 5 years , the Arab world expects that these investment will be directed to the Arab countries , he added that there are many fields for future cooperation opportunities such as the peaceful use of nuclear energy , renewable energy , and infrastructure projects, the Chinese investments reach $13.2 bill in 2014 concentrating on the oil and gas projects while the Arab investments in China reached$13.2bill . He said that there are vast opportunities also in the services and human resource development sectors . He pointed out to the services offered by Asia Bank for investment in Infrastructure and askred the China Govt. to consider extending the services of the Bank to the private sector and called upon the authorities to offer soft loans and reduce the collateral and conditions for such loans , he added that the services of the Bank are important for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure of many Arab countries especially those who suffered from the unrest situation in the region .He also stressed the need for introducing the Islamic banking system .Deputizing for HE The Secretary General of The Arab League , Dr. Thamer Al Ani , Director of the Economic Relations Dept, asserted the importance of the Arab –Chinese economic relations especially under the umbrella of the Chinese initiative “ The economic belt of the silk road” . HE Mr. Thabet Al Taher, FAB Secretary General , chaired the working session “Enhancing the investment cooperation between China and the Arab World” stressed the importance of following up and executing the recommendations of the previous conferences and that special attention should be directed towards fulfilling the cooperation opportunities present especially in the fields of technology transfer, renewable energy ,ITC, agricultural and food technology . It is worth mentioning that around 200 Arab businessmen participated in this conference , JBA delegation was the biggest among the participants . The conference was completed with the closing session during which the conference recommendations were adopted and it was agreed to hold the 7th session of the conference in China in 2017.
