Under the patronage of HE Dr. Hatem Halawani , Minister of Industry & Trade & Supplies , JBA organized the 18th Meeting of the Jordanian – Egyptian Business Council during 17-18 Dec. 2014 in Dead Sea and Aqaba . The Council meeting was headed by HEMr. Hamdi Tabba’a ,Chairman of JBA , and Mr. Hussein Sabbour , Chairman of the Egyptian Businessmen Association . HEMrs. Maha Ali , MIT Secretary General attended the meeting on behalf of the Minister, also HE r. Khaled Sarwat the Ambassador of Egypt attended the meeting in addition to Jordanian & Egyptian businessmen . HE Mr.. Hamdi Tabba’a opened the meetings addressing the audience with a speech in which he reviewed the latest developments in the Jordanian economy and the recommendations of the last council meeting , he also reviewed the Jordanian and Egyptian bilateral relations and called upon the business communities to enhance the trade exchanges and joint investments. Mr. Sabbour also made a speech in which he reviewed the developments on the economic side in Egypt and the future investment opportunities present. HE Mrs. Maha Ali praised the role of the Business Council in enhancing the economic relations between both countries and reviewed the recent economic developments in Jordan. The Council aenda included two working sessions: 1- the stock markets and the financial sector cooperation opportunities. This session was headed by HE Mr. Sami Gammoh , and the speakers were; Mr, Mazen Watha’efi from Jordan Securities Commission, Mr. Mohamad Bilbeisi, JBA Board member , Chairman of Financial Services Corp. Association , Mr. Mahmoud Sha’ban, Mr. Hassan Hussein from the Egyptian delegation .
2- the energy & renewable energy sector future prospects for investments and co-operation , this session was headed by HEMr. Thabet Taher and the speakers were Mrs, Wejdan Rabadi from Minerals & Energy Regulatory Commission ,and Dr. Ibrahim Badran From Philadelphia University .Prominent economic experts and specialized businessmen from both sides made presentations during both sessions shedding light on the present and future prospects for investments in these 2 fields and the Council adopted several recommendations for both the Governments and the private sectors to consider in order to enhance the cooperation in these 2 fields. The next day the Council’s members were received by HE.Dr. Hani Al Mulki , president of ASEZA Commission in Aqaba , HE briefed the delegation on the recent developments in ASEZA and the investment opportunities and future plans for Aqaba.
