‘The Investment  Issues in the Arab World Forum’ convenes in Aqaba

‘The Investment Issues in the Arab World Forum’ was convened under the patronage of HE Dr. Hani Al Mulki , Chief Commissioner of ASEZA in Aqaba during 16-17/2015 . The Forum was organized by FAB and sponsored by Ayla and Arab Bridge Maritime Co. H.E. Mr. Hamdi Tabba’a, FAB Chairman , addressed the participants in his welcoming speech in which he reviewed the economic developments in the Arab Countries and the investment and business environment , the foreign direct investments and Arab-Arab investments , as well, suffered in the past few years from the unstable situation in the region , he said , to overcome the current situation it is important to restructure and review the investment laws offering additional investment incentives , and that the Arab financial resources should be increased and directed to the investment projects in the prospective sectors such as renewable energy , SME’s , food manufacturing and pharmaceuticals , besides the major strategic trans- Arab infrastructure projects especially maritime and railway transport projects, oil & gas pipelines and electricity grid . HE Dr. Mulki addressed the participants in the opening session reviewing the investment incentives and investment projects offered by ASEZA . On the sidelines of the Forum , a Cooperation Agreement was signed between ASEZA and the city of Sharm El Sheikh, the agreement was signed by General Khaled Fouda , Governor of South Sinai, Sharm El Sheikh , and The Governor of Aqaba, Mr. Fawaz Irsheidat. The Forum program included two working sessions : 1st working session ‘Invesment in the Arab World and the means for support and finance ‘ chaired by HE Mr. Thabet AL Taher, FAB Secretary General , the 2nd session “Investment Projects ‘ chaired by Mr. Mohammad Al Naqi , FAB board member representing Kuwait. The second day of the Forum included field visits to investment projects in Aqaba . The Forum was attended by Arab Business men members in FAB , top officials and economic experts .
