Jordan, Mauritania set up business council

The Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) and the National Union of Mauritanian Employers Saturday signed an agreement to establish a joint Jordanian-Mauritanian business council.

The agreement, which was signed by JBA President Hamdi Tabbaa and head of the Mauritanian union Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ahmed, aims to launch joint activities and fairs and holding forums to advance economic and trade ties.

It also seeks to document the means of communication and acquaintance between the business community in the two countries, and promote and facilitate the exchange of expertise and data on investment opportunities in the productive and service sectors.

Tabbaa said that since its establishment in 1985, the JBA had sought to prop up the Jordanian investment environment and promote investment opportunities available in the various promising economic sectors and empower the Jordanian private sector to play its role in promoting sustainable development.
