JBA reviews ways to address Jordan’s tourism challenges

Vice President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, Muhammad Al-Belbeis, stressed the importance of developing Jordan’s potential to become the best tourist destination for those looking for world-class experiences, especially in light of regional developments.

According to a statement by the association, Al- Belbeis stressed during the first meeting of the Tourism Sector Council the importance of revitalizing the sector, which is one of the important tools to stimulate the wheel of growth, and has great and distinct potential, and attracts the attention of tourists, which requires moving forward with the growth process and maintaining the record growth witnessed by the tourism sector. Last year, we worked to optimally exploit the tourism potential in the Jordanian tourism sector.

For his part, Treasurer of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, Michel Nazzal, in the presence of the Director General of the Association, Tariq Hijazi, and a number of its members and workers in the tourism sector, stressed the importance of developing plans and strategies to enhance various investment opportunities and projects in the tourism sector, and thinking about new types of tourism that contribute to getting out of the state of recession. In the sector, avoiding crises that affect the sector, and overcoming its challenges.

He pointed out the extent to which the tourism sector was affected by the aggression against the Gaza Strip, as the number of tourist groups coming to the Kingdom, especially European ones, decreased, and the guides and tourist transportation sector was damaged by about 70-80 percent, and tourist offices were greatly damaged, stressing that the continuation of the aggression against the sector will cost the sector. Heavy losses exceed the losses of the Corona crisis.

The association members and attendees also discussed a set of recommendations for the continuity of the tourism sector in the Kingdom, which include immediate preparation of the infrastructure for tourist and archaeological sites, granting incentives in development areas to establish tourism projects, postponing loans, reducing and reconsidering interest, and intensifying campaigns to promote various investment opportunities and projects in the sector. Tourism, and providing government support to ensure the continuity of the sector.

It also includes providing facilities for tourist visas and licensing airline tickets to attract tourists to the Kingdom, signing more agreements that guarantee entry to non-traditional tourism markets, and setting world-class standards and rules for the tourism sector in Jordan.

The Association’s Tourism Sector Council confirmed the continuation of its meeting to discuss all the challenges facing the tourism sector in the Kingdom and the advancement of the sector.
