Representing JBA; Mr. Mohammad Bahjat Bilbeisi , JBA Board Member, participated in the Jordanian – Egyptian Higher Committee meetings in Cairo on Feb. 11, 2014 . The meetings were headed by HE Prime Minister Dr, Abdallah Nsour , and HE Dr. Hazem Beblawi , Prime Minister of Egypt.
The Higher Committee approved the recommendations of the Jordanian Egyptian Business Council meeting between JBA and The Egyptian Businessmen Association (EBA) that was held in Cairo in Nov. 2013 , and among these recommendations the call of the business community in both countries to establish a customs union to set the basis for an Arab customs union in the future, in order to enhance and encourage bilateral trade exchanges, also the Higher Committee adopted the initiative of the Business Council to establish a certified quality and standards testing laboratory in the port of Nuebe’ to become a major center for the transport of goods between Jordan & Egypt aiming to hasten the testing and approval for entry of the exchanged goods on the borders . The recommendations included also the encouragement of investment projects in renewable energy , raw materials manufacturing , and the activation of the joint investment committee between the investment organizations in both countries and considering the establishment of joint stock exchange markets.
