JBA, French embassy talk economic cooperation

Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) President Hamdi Tabbaa and Economic Counselor at the French Embassy in Amman Myriam Safsaf on Tuesday discussed the private sector’s role in advancing economic ties between the two countries.

The meeting tackled existing investment opportunities and means of bolstering ties between the business communities of the two countries, according to a JBA press release.

Tabbaa said the Jordanian business community is keen on boosting Jordanian-French trade and investment ties to positively impact their trade balance, urging businessmen to benefit from opportunities in Jordan’s promising economic sectors.

Safsaf said the embassy will cooperate with the JBA to interconnect the business communities, particularly in agriculture.

JBA board members, who attended the meeting, pointed to investment prospects in Jordan’s advanced medical sector and tourism after recovering from Covid pandemic repercussions.

The two countries’ trade volume stood at $328 million in 2021, $30 million of which were Jordanian exports, mostly chemicals, vegetables and foodstuffs.
