HE Mr. Hamdi TAbba’a received at JBA premises on Sun. Feb.23rd 2014 , the Director of the economic department at Taiwan Embassy Mr. Kevin Jiang . The meeting concentrated on the economic relations between Jordan & Taiwan and the means to boost these relations in the different fields of the economy besides trade exchanges, HE , JBA Chairman explained the role of JBA in promoting economic relations with business associations in over 40 countries around the world e also pointed out that the trade balance is greatly in favor of Taiwan , Jordan imported in 2013 around$338 mill and exported to Taiwan $17 mill of phosphate & fertilizers , he briefed Mr. Kevin on the latest economic developments in Jordan and the attractive investment climate and excellent regional & international relations that Jordan has enjoying the incentives of free trade agreements with the Arab countries, the US, Canada, Turkey and EU , thus enabling investors in Jordan to penetrate major world markets. It is worth mentioning that already 5 Taiwanese companies operate in Jordan and exporting clothes and leather goods to the USA utilizing the free trade agreement . Mr. Kevin expressed appreciation for JBA role in promoting the Jordanian economic relations on the private sector level and proposed to conclude an agreement for the establishment of a joint business council with the Taiwanese business association in order to encourage direct contacts between businessmen and promote joint investments.
